President Commends Volunteerism’s Impact in Cyprus.

Nicosia: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, emphasized the importance of fostering social responsibility, solidarity, and empathy during an event celebrating International Volunteer Day at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday evening.

According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides lauded the contributions of the Pan Cyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council. He highlighted that collaboration between the State, volunteers, and non-profit organizations has emerged as the most effective strategy for addressing and managing complex crises and diverse social needs. Christodoulides asserted that neither the State nor the citizens could successfully respond to these challenges without mutual support.

The President emphasized the necessity of collective efforts, stating, “We must work together, to help our country and its people. For this reason, we support the volunteer movement with actions and not just with words and nice statements and encourage actions of volunteerism and efforts that
are being developed in our country of which we are proud.” He stressed that volunteerism extends beyond material aid or practical work, touching every facet of life.

Furthermore, President Christodoulides underscored the importance of engaging the youth to further instill a culture of volunteerism, beginning with the Education sector.
