Nicosia: President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides is scheduled to meet with a team of US experts specializing in fire issues at the Presidential Palace on Monday morning.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the 10-member team from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), a federal agency under the US Department of Justice, has arrived in Cyprus. Their visit follows an invitation from President Christodoulides, aimed at aiding the investigation and assessment of the management of the recent wildfires that affected the Limassol region last month.
Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis informed CNA last week that the US experts will brief the President following the completion of their investigations. They are expected to present preliminary findings, with a detailed report anticipated in the upcoming weeks.
As per the President’s activities programme, the meeting with the American fire experts is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday at the Presidential Palace.
