Nicosia: The President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, received reports from the Special Scientific Committee on the restructuring of the livestock sector, presented by the Committee's Chair, Stavros Malas, at a meeting held Thursday morning at the Presidential Palace. The session was attended by key governmental figures, including Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos, Minister of the Interior Constantinos Ioannou, Deputy Minister to the President Irini Piki, and Minister for Agriculture Christos Senekis.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis highlighted the comprehensive efforts of the Special Scientific Committee regarding the livestock sector's restructuring. He stated that the President has instructed relevant bodies to be briefed soon, if not already, on the findings. Letymbiotis emphasized that the stakeholders will be engaged in a constructive exchange of views to finalize the plan, enabling the adoption and implementation of these findings.
Additionally, Stavros Malas informed through a social media post that the Committee is focused on ensuring transparency and fostering meaningful dialogue about the proposals aimed at the recovery, modernization, and long-term restructuring of the Cypriot livestock sector. Malas assured that no members received additional remuneration for their participation, underscoring the scientific and ethical responsibility that guided the Committee's work. The objective remains to formulate a practical, evidence-based proposal for the future of livestock farming in Cyprus.
