Manama: The wish for a long-lasting friendship between Cyprus and Bahrain was expressed by Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, following his meeting with King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa, in Manama on Sunday, referring to a renewed shared commitment to advancing and elevating bilateral relations.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides met today with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa, at the Royal Palace in Manama, as part of his official visit in Bahrain, at the invitation of the King.
President Christodoulides, it said, arrived at the Palace at noon, where an official welcoming ceremony was held. The President and the King had a private meeting.
He then signed the Palace's guest book. In his message, President Christodoulides expressed his 'sincere appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for their unwavering support in advancing our bilateral relations and in further strengthening the long-standing partnership and friendship between the Republic of Cyprus and the Kingdom of Bahrain'.
He also referred to the King's 'wise and visionary leadership, which has firmly established the Kingdom of Bahrain as a beacon of regional and international cooperation, as well as of interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence'.
'I am deeply honoured by the warm welcome and gracious reception at Qudaibiya Palace on the occasion of my State Visit, and by our renewed shared commitment to advancing and elevating our bilateral relations', he said, among other things, noting 'long live the friendship between our two countries'.
