Nicosia: President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides commenced his engagements in New York by meeting with leaders of Greek diaspora organizations to discuss the ongoing developments concerning the Cyprus issue. According to Cyprus News Agency, the President's schedule is packed with high-profile meetings and events, highlighting the significance of his visit.
President Christodoulides is slated to address the UN General Assembly plenary on Wednesday. His itinerary includes a meeting with Maria Angela Holguin, the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy, on Tuesday and a subsequent meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday.
On September 21, President Christodoulides will hold talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan. Later that day, he will participate in a summit co-hosted by European Council President Antonio Costa and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, focusing on multilateralism, international law, peace, and prosperity.
The following day, September 22, he will attend the opening of the Plenary Session of the Summit where the UN Secretary General will present his Progress Report. In the afternoon, President Christodoulides will meet with Javier la Rosa, President of the Base Assets and Emerging Countries Department of Chevron, and later with Maria Angela Holguin regarding the Cyprus Problem.
On September 23, the President will address the UN General Assembly's Plenary Session and participate in a High-Level Meeting on Climate Change organized by the UN Secretary-General, where he will also make an intervention. In the afternoon, a meeting with John Ardill, Vice President of ExxonMobil, is scheduled.
September 24 will see President Christodoulides attending a working breakfast organized by the Antenna Group and the Atlantic Council, focusing on EU-Gulf Cooperation for regional security and prosperity. A meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is set for later that morning, followed by a luncheon with the Permanent Representatives of the five Permanent Members of the UN Security Council.
The President will conclude his New York visit with a meeting on September 25 with Han Zheng, Vice President of the People's Republic of China, and representatives of the AJC. Before his return to Cyprus on the evening of September 26, he will attend a dinner organized by Cypriot diaspora organizations in his honor.
President Christodoulides is accompanied by a delegation that includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, and Greek Cypriot negotiator for the Cyprus issue, Menelaos Menelaou.
