President Christodoulides Embarks on Strategic Visits to Serbia and Montenegro Ahead of EU Presidency

Belgrade: President Nikos Christodoulides will pay working visits first to Serbia and then to Montenegro in view of the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU by the Republic of Cyprus in the first half of 2026. President Christodoulides travels to Belgrade on Thursday evening.

According to Cyprus News Agency, on Friday morning, the President will have a meeting with the President of Serbia, Aleksandr Vucic, at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade. The two Presidents will have a private meeting, which will be followed by extended talks between the delegations of the two countries. After these discussions, President Christodoulides will attend a working lunch with President Vucic and members of their delegations.

In the afternoon of the same day, the President will travel to Podgorica, Montenegro, where he will have a private meeting with the President of the country, Jako Milatovic, followed by expanded talks between the Cyprus and Montenegrin delegations. It is noted that the President’s working
visits to Serbia and Montenegro are the beginning of a series of visits abroad by the President of the Republic, in the context of the Republic of Cyprus’ preparations for the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

“Among the topics that will be discussed during the meetings of President Christodoulides are issues related to the European agenda and the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency, the situation in the Middle East region, the situation in Ukraine, developments in the Cyprus problem and issues of bilateral interest,” the press release reads.

President Christodoulides will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, the Director of the President’s Diplomatic Office, Doros Venezis, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, Yannis Antoniou, and officials.
