President Christodoulides Commences Working Visit to Israel and Palestine

Jerusalem: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, arrived in Israel this morning for a working visit, while in the afternoon he will pay a working visit to Palestine.

According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides will begin his visit in Jerusalem, where he is scheduled to meet with two families of the October 7, 2023 hostages.

In the afternoon, the President is set to have a private meeting at the Presidential Palace with the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog. This meeting will be followed by expanded talks involving both nations’ delegations. Later, President Christodoulides will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Prime Minister’s Office, with further expanded talks planned that will include their delegations.

After his engagements in Israel, President Christodoulides will proceed to Ramallah, Palestine. In Ramallah, he will have a private meeting with the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas. Following their meeting, expanded talks between their delegations will take place, and President Abbas will host a working dinner for President Christodoulides.

Before concluding his visit and returning to Cyprus, President Christodoulides will visit the UNICEF Offices in Ramallah to meet with executives of the organization.

The press release highlights that this visit is significant in light of Cyprus’s upcoming assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During the President’s meetings with the top political leaders of Israel and Palestine, discussions will focus on bilateral interests and regional developments. The visit also aims to underscore Cyprus’s role and readiness to promote peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region through dialogue and diplomacy.
