Nicosia: The President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhman, are scheduled to meet on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, under the auspices of the United Nations. The meeting is set to commence at 11:00 a.m. at the Chief of Mission's Residence within the UN Protected Area.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the meeting will be hosted by the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Cyprus, Khassim Diagne. The island has remained divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Despite numerous attempts at peace talks led by the UN, a resolution has yet to be achieved. The last significant dialogue occurred in July 2017 at Crans-Montana, Switzerland, but ended without agreement.
