Astana: President Nikos Christodoulides expressed the readiness of the Republic of Cyprus to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the fields of business, connectivity, energy, investment, and tourism, during his private meeting on Wednesday with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in Astana.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Tokayev welcomed President Christodoulides to the Palace of Independence in Astana as part of the first official visit by a President of the Republic of Cyprus to Kazakhstan.
During their one-to-one meeting, President Christodoulides reaffirmed the commitment to further deepening bilateral relations, expressing the readiness of the Republic of Cyprus to enhance cooperation, particularly in the areas of business, connectivity, energy, investment, and tourism.
At the same time, it adds, he highlighted the role of the Republic of Cyprus as a reliable European partner that supports the further strengthening of relations between the European Union and Central Asia, particularly with Kazakhstan, which is the EU's most important partner in the region.
He also briefed his counterpart on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue, according to the post.
It is noted that the two leaders also had the opportunity to exchange views on EU-Kazakhstan relations, as well as on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
