Pope Francis Promoted Cooperation, President Christodoulides Says

Nicosia: The Pontiff’s words and actions consistently contributed to the effort for mutual understanding and cooperation between states, religions and faiths, President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides said on Saturday in a post on social media, expressing his deep sorrow for the loss of Pope Francis, whose funeral he attended.

According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides emphasized that Christianity mourns the loss of a hierarch who worked with dedication in serving the values of social justice, love, and solidarity.

President Christodoulides stressed in his post that the Pontiff’s words and actions consistently contributed to the effort for mutual understanding and cooperation between states, religions and faiths, and that he was a supporter of peace, dialogue, coexistence of peoples and cultures.

‘We bid farewell to Pope Francis with feelings of infinite respect and appreciation,’ he concluded.
