Brussels: The photography exhibition "Nicosia International Airport" by Cypriot photographer Andros Efstathiou will be showcased at the European Parliament in Brussels, coinciding with the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the exhibition features a photographic series by Andros Efstathiou, capturing the deserted site of Nicosia's former airport. It also includes works from the European Parliament Contemporary art collection, aligning with the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU. The exhibition is presented by Isnotgallery, which emphasized the unique perspective Efstathiou brings to the site, portraying it not just as a historical location but as a symbol of interruption, where themes of absence and incompletion take center stage.
The exhibition aims to provoke reflection on memory, spectatorship, and national narrative within contemporary Cypriot art, providing a politically resonant interpretation of the landscape. The opening of the exhibition will be hosted by Deputy Minister of Culture Vasiliki Kassianidou and MEP, Quaestor, and Chair of the Artistic Committee, Miriam Lexmann, on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026.
