Nicosia: The University of Cyprus is set to host the 1st PHAETHON Entrepreneurship Bootcamp from 7 to 9 September 2026 at its Faculty of Engineering. The event aims to transform research ideas into innovative solutions with societal and economic impacts, guiding participants through a comprehensive journey from scientific discovery to market application.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the bootcamp is designed by Cyprus Seeds for the Phaethon Centre of Excellence and will be delivered jointly by Cyprus Seeds and PHAETHON. The program receives support from the University of Groningen and DTU Skylab and is hosted by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Cyprus. This initiative underscores the university's strategic commitment to fostering innovation and technology transfer.
The three-day program targets PhD candidates and early-career researchers, equipping them with the necessary entrepreneurial mindset, practical tools, and confidence to explore and transform their research into real-world applications. Participants will engage in practical entrepreneurship training delivered in English by experienced trainers from Cyprus Seeds, DTU - Technical University of Denmark, the University of Groningen, and PHAETHON.
Participants will benefit from hands-on learning and interactive exercises that cover key stages of the research-to-market journey, including ideation, business modeling, and pitching. The bootcamp provides an opportunity to work on personal research ideas, gain insights from successful scientific spin-off founders, and connect with researchers, innovators, and potential collaborators.
Open to researchers and PhD candidates in scientific and engineering disciplines, the bootcamp also welcomes MBA and MBE students and individuals affiliated with universities, Centres of Excellence, or research institutes in Cyprus. Priority is given to those working in the energy and renewable energy sectors, enhancing the focus on research commercialisation and the translation of scientific knowledge into real-world impact.
By supporting this initiative, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Cyprus is strengthening the connection between research excellence, innovation, and entrepreneurship, contributing to the development of a dynamic research, technology, and Deep Tech innovation ecosystem in Cyprus.
