Nicosia:Total sales of petroleum products in August 2026 decreased by 1.4% compared to August 2025, reaching 121,646 tonnes, as reported by the Statistical Service on Monday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, there was a significant decrease in the provisions of aviation kerosene by 6.1%, and reductions were also noted in the sales of asphalt (23.9%), heating gasoil (9.2%), and road diesel (1.6%).

Conversely, increases were observed in the provisions of marine gasoil by 3.1% and in the sales of liquified petroleum gases (8.6%), light fuel oil (4.9%), and motor gasoline (1.5%).

Sales from filling stations specifically saw a marginal increase of 0.2%, amounting to 54,704 tonnes.

Comparing August 2026 to July 2026, total petroleum sales fell by 15.3%. Notably, road diesel sales declined by 25.5% and motor gasoline by 12.7%. Provisions of marine gasoil, however, rose by 3.3%, while aviation kerosene remained relatively stable with a slight decrease of 0.4%.

By the end of August 2026, the total stocks of petroleum products had increased by 21.2% compared to the end of July 2026.

For the period from January to August 2026, total petroleum sales saw a modest increase of 0.6% compared to the same timeframe in the previous year.
