Pavlos Kontides Competes in European Sailing Championship in Sweden

Marstrand: Cypriot sailor Pavlos Kontides is currently in Sweden, the country where he won his first European Championship medal, out of a total of five, where as of Monday, 11 August, he will compete in the European Championship in Marstrand.

According to Cyprus News Agency, this will be the Cypriot sailor’s last competition in 2025, a year in which he won a silver medal at the World Championship in Qingdao, China, and a bronze at the Grand Slam in Los Angeles.

As stated, the two-time silver Olympic medalist said he was very pleased with the whole year and expressed his desire to end it ‘in the best possible way’, adding that the race is expected to be very tough, as all major competitors will be present.

In addition to Kontides, other big names of European sailing in Sweden include Britain’s Michael Beckett, Germany’s Philipp Buhl and Hungary’s Jonatan Vadnai, in a total of 150 entries.

It is added that the first three days of the competition will be devoted to the qualifying rounds, to be followed by the final races.

After the race in Sweden, Kontides will have a few days to rest before beginning his preparations for the new season, the press release concluded.
