Palmas Discusses Strengthening Military and Technical Cooperation with Serbian Counterpart

Belgrade: Defence Minister Vassilis Palmas discussed ways to further strengthen military and technical cooperation, including issues related to defense, security, and equipment, during his meeting on Tuesday with his Serbian counterpart Bratislav Ga‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡ic, as part of his official visit to Serbia.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the meeting reaffirmed the excellent relations between Cyprus and Serbia, the historical ties between the two peoples, and the respect and trust that characterize bilateral cooperation in the fields of defence and security.

As stated, the two ministers exchanged views on further strengthening military and technical cooperation, including issues related to defense, security, and equipment, and confirmed the common intention of the two countries to deepen cooperation and exploit new opportunities within the framework of the bilateral mechanism.

It is added that the discussion also covered relations between Serbia and the European Union, with Cyprus reaffirming its support for Serbia’s European course, particularly in view of the upcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.

In addition, it is noted that the ministers exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and the role of the Republic of Cyprus as a humanitarian hub, while at the same time, Palmas briefed his counterpart on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and the challenges posed by Turkey’s continued intransigence and provocative actions.

For his part, the Serbian Minister of Defence presented Serbia’s positions on the security situation in the region, with particular reference to the situation in Kosovo, as well as broader regional developments.

During his stay in Serbia, the Defence Minister visited the 12th International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment “PARTNER-2025,” the statement concludes.
