Nicosia: Cyprus will continue to work actively, consistently, and responsibly to strengthen multilateral cooperation and advance the principles and values of the United Nations, the country's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday, congratulating the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Khalilur Rahman, on his election to the Presidency of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
According to Cyprus News Agency, in a post on X, Cyprus' Foreign Ministry thanks the Member States of the United Nations that supported the Cypriot candidacy for the Presidency of the 81st UN General Assembly. It also expresses 'special appreciation' to Cyprus' candidate, Andreas Kakouris, 'for his clear vision for a Presidency committed to practical multilateralism that restores trust, strengthens delivery, and ensures that the United Nations works for all, a vision he consistently advanced over recent months'.
'We congratulate the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Khalilur Rahman, on his election and look forward to a Presidency committed to the principles of multilateralism, impartiality, and collective action for the benefit of all Member States', it adds.
Cyprus, it said, will continue to work actively, consistently, and responsibly to strengthen multilateral cooperation and advance the principles and values of the United Nations, with a steadfast commitment to effective multilateralism with the United Nations at its core.
