Nicosia: A small-scale training exercise code named “PTOLEMAIOS-25” is underway since May 26, 2025, as part of the Bilateral Defence Cooperation Programme between the Republic of Cyprus and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

According to Cyprus News Agency, a National Guard General Staff press release stated that the purpose of the exercise is to conduct joint training for personnel in Special Operations, with particular emphasis on urban combat, as well as the execution of operational fire exercises.

This joint training is also part of the broader network of international collaborations developed by the National Guard and is considered especially beneficial, as it highlights the excellent relations established between the Armed Forces of Cyprus and Egypt, it is added.

Additionally, at an operational level, the National Guard says it contributes to improving interoperability, enhancing mutual understanding, and exchanging expertise and experiences between personnel of the two countries.
