Multinational Exercise ‘Argonaut 2026′ Takes Place in Cyprus’ FIR and EEZ

Nicosia: The Multinational Civil-Military Cooperation Exercise "Argonaut 2026" is being held from May 11th to May 15th, 2026, as announced by the Ministry of Defence. The exercise focuses on civil-military cooperation within Cyprus' Flight Information Region (FIR) and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

According to Cyprus News Agency, the exercise will implement and evaluate the Special National Plans 'ESTIA' and 'TEFKROS'. These plans address the reception of civilians from neighboring conflict zones and the response to Search and Rescue incidents. The exercise is structured in three phases, covering maritime, aerial, and land domains within Cyprus' jurisdiction. The National Guard leads the planning, execution, and coordination, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center. Numerous government agencies, along with personnel and assets from Cyprus and foreign countries, are participating. Additionally, a significant number of foreign observers are present to witness the proceedings.
