Nicosia: A 5.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded on Monday by the seismological network of the Geological Survey Department (GSD), with its epicenter off the southern coast of Turkey. It was felt across the eastern Mediterranean, including Cyprus.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred at 12:21 p.m. local time. ‘The earthquake had its epicenter off the southern coastline of Turkey, in the Antalya Gulf region, approximately 255 km northwest of Polis Chrysochous, and at a focal depth of 85 kilometers,’ the Department said. It added that the tremor was felt in Turkey, and, to a lesser extent, across the eastern Mediterranean, including Cyprus.
