Limassol:Maccabi Tel Aviv is set to play its home games for this year's EuroLeague at the "Spyros Kyprianou" indoor arena in Limassol. This was confirmed by Yiannis Ioannou, President of the Cyprus Sports Organisation (CSO), during a meeting on Tuesday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, representatives from the CSO, the Police, the Israeli team, and arena authorities conducted an inspection of the venue on Tuesday morning. Ioannou mentioned that the Presidency of the Republic, the Police, and the CSO have already informed the EuroLeague about the arena's readiness, and a final announcement from the organizing body is pending.
The arena, recently renovated for EuroBasket, is prepared for the EuroLeague, with Maccabi Tel Aviv responsible for installing specialized equipment. Their first game at the Limassol venue is scheduled against Real Madrid on Thursday, October 22.
Sources indicated that stringent security measures will be in place to ensure safety, with discussions on security arrangements, ticket allocations, and fan segregation taking place during the meeting. Further discussions are expected around ten days before the match.
