Kombos to Address Gas Pipeline Dispute at EU Foreign Affairs Council

Accra:Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos is set to discuss the contentious "Memorandum of Understanding" between Turkey and the secessionist entity in the Turkish-occupied areas of Cyprus. This memorandum concerns the construction of an undersea natural gas pipeline, and Kombos aims to highlight the issue during the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Monday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Kombos will be in Luxembourg to attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council proceedings. The council's agenda also includes discussions on Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, its hybrid campaign against the EU, developments in the Middle East, and the strategic importance of EU enlargement for security.

The Foreign Minister intends to bring attention to the illegal memorandum within the council's framework. Additionally, before the official proceedings, an informal breakfast will address strategies to counteract Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference, along with strategic communication efforts.
