Juvenile court validates arrest of Campai murder suspect

General

Ajuvenile court in Brescia on Monday validated the arrest of a 17-year-old who is accused of the premeditated murder of Maria Campai, 42, inside the garage of the apartment building where he lives in Viadana, near Mantua.

The teen is also accused of hiding Campai’s body in the garden of an abandoned villa after the murder on September 19.

The 17-year-old was questioned on Monday morning by magistrates before the arrest was validated, judicial sources said.

He has been detained at Milan’s Beccaria juvenile prison since his arrest last Friday.

The teen told investigators that he killed Campai “out of curiosity” because he wanted to know what it felt like to murder someone, according to sources close to the probe.

He allegedly met her through a dating app and had carried out online searches to learn how to murder someone with his bare hands prior to the killing, the sources added.
