Brussels: On Thursday, European Commissioner for Energy Dan J¸rgensen is set to engage in a teleconference with Cyprus’ Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, George Papanastasiou, and Greece’s Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou. The primary agenda for this meeting is the Greece-Cyprus Electrical Interconnection, known as the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI). This teleconference is confirmed in the European Commissioner’s weekly agenda, which was recently published by the European Commission.
According to Cyprus News Agency, both ministers previously convened in Athens last week, where they reached an agreement regarding the transfer of ownership and operator licenses for the GSI. The licenses will be moved from the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority to Greece’s Independent Power Transmission Operator. The details of this decision were officially released last Friday in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus.
