Rome: Minister of Interior Affairs, Konstantinos Ioannou, will visit Rome on Monday to discuss priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, in regards with housing policies and civil protection, with his Italian counterparts.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Ioannou and Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, will discuss actions on a national and on an EU level for housing solutions, on the basis of the European Affordable Housing Plan, a Ministry press release notes. The two will also exchange best practices, with the aim of designing targeted policies to deal with the problem in EU member states.
Ioannou will meet with Italian Minister of Civil Protection and Maritime Policy, Nello Musumeci, to brief him on the progress so far in the talks about the Regulation for an EU civil protection mechanism, as a response to emergency situations. He will also present the Cyprus Presidency efforts to establish a common understanding between member states on this issue, the press release concludes.
