Interior Minister to Chair Video Conference on EU Housing Initiatives

Brussels: Cyprus Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou is set to travel to Brussels on Monday to preside over an informal video conference involving EU Ministers responsible for housing.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Minister Ioannou will outline the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU on housing matters during the conference.

The video conference will also feature Dan Jorgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing, who is expected to present the key elements of the European Plan for Affordable Housing to the 27 EU Ministers. This session aims to allow the Ministers to offer initial feedback and perspectives on the Plan, setting the groundwork for forthcoming discussions on implementing the European Affordable Housing Plan. These discussions will continue in the EPSCO Council meeting scheduled for March, followed by an Informal meeting in Nicosia in May.

Additionally, Minister Ioannou is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Commissioner Jorgensen and Cyprus Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). During these meetings, Ioannou will discuss the housing objectives under the Cyprus Presidency, further emphasizing Cyprus's commitment to addressing housing challenges across the EU.
