President Christodoulides’ presence in Beirut is part of Cyprus’ ongoing effort to deepen relations with regional countries, specifically Lebanon, an important partner with whom Cyprus shares historically friendly ties, common challenges, and strategic interests.

As part of strengthening relations and cooperation with Lebanon, Letymbiotis stated that there would be specific announcements regarding energy cooperation and broader regional aspects during the President’s stay in Beirut. This move confirms Cyprus’ commitment to enhancing security and stability in the region.

The exchange of views will focus on regional developments, security, stability, and progress in cooperation areas of mutual interest.

Letymbiotis noted Cyprus’ consistent efforts to strengthen Lebanon’s resilience and stability, which are key factors for the entire region. The visit also offers an opportunity to discuss enhancing cooperation within the EU-Lebanon relations framework, particularly ahead of the upcoming Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
