Nicosia: The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), marking a significant milestone in the professional and business relations between Cyprus and India. This development took place during the official visit of President Nikos Christodoulides to India.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the MoU highlights ICPAC's strategic commitment to fostering high-value-added international partnerships with leading professional bodies. Chrysilios Pelekanos, President of the Cyprus-India Business Association, signed the agreement on behalf of ICPAC, under the authorization of ICPAC President Odysseas Christodoulou, as part of the official Cyprus delegation to India.
The ICAI, recognized as one of the most influential professional accounting bodies globally, plays a crucial role in shaping the development, regulation, and evolution of the accounting profession at the international level. Through this MoU, ICPAC and ICAI aim to create a robust framework for cooperation in areas of mutual interest. This includes the exchange of know-how and best practices, professional education and ongoing training, and the development of joint initiatives in professional and educational spheres.
Additionally, the agreement will facilitate the organization of conferences and enhance the quality and international recognition of the accounting and auditing profession. During the visit, a meeting with the High Commissioner of India, Manish Manish, further underscored the excellent relations between Cyprus and India, highlighting opportunities for future professional and business collaboration.
The signing of the MoU aligns with ICPAC's ongoing strategy to enhance its international presence and position Cyprus as a reliable, competitive center for professional services internationally.
