Hungarian Ambassador’s Visit to CNA Marks Progress in Cyprus-Hungary Relations

Nicosia: The visit of Hungary's Ambassador Krisztina Lakos to the premises of the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) in Nicosia marks a step towards strengthening cooperation between Cyprus and Hungary, the Ambassador told CNA.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Ambassador met with CNA's President of the Board of Directors, Andreas Frangos, and Director Dinos Phinikarides. Frangos expressed his privilege in welcoming the Ambassador, highlighting CNA's commitment to providing authoritative news coverage amid the era of misinformation. He emphasized the importance of reviving cooperation with Hungary's historic news agency, MTI, under the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), and looked forward to strengthening the exchange of news between the two countries.

Ambassador Krisztina Lakos expressed gratitude to CNA and acknowledged the importance of her visit in enhancing bilateral cooperation. She committed to assisting in renewing the agreement between CNA and MTI to facilitate news and photo exchanges. The Ambassador also hoped CNA would cover future Embassy-organized events of journalistic interest, describing the Embassy as small but with intriguing ideas.

Regarding upcoming events, the Ambassador mentioned a dance performance on 21 October at the Strovolos Municipal Theatre, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Additionally, a bicommunal chess event for children is planned for November.
