Nicosia: The President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, and the new Czech Ambassador to Cyprus, Jana Hyb¡€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡kov¡, emphasized the cordial relations between Cyprus and the Czech Republic and expressed a mutual desire to enhance cooperation, especially at the parliamentary level, during their meeting on Tuesday following the ambassador’s recent appointment.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Demetriou conveyed her gratitude for the Czech Republic’s consistent position on the Cyprus issue and its dedication to resolving it in line with international law, relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions, and European principles. She highlighted the Greek Cypriot side’s commitment to resuming negotiations aimed at reuniting Cyprus and emphasized that the illegal Turkish invasion and ongoing occupation would not be legitimized.
Demetriou also expressed optimism that an upcoming meeting between the President of the Republic and the Turkish Cypriot leader, with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy in attendance, would produce meaningful outcomes. She noted that the Republic of Cyprus is leveraging European and international platforms to bolster efforts to restart substantive talks.
