Nicosia: Parts of Cyprus, particularly coastal and mountainous regions, are bracing for heavy thunderstorms and strong winds overnight on Sunday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Department of Meteorology issued a yellow warning indicating a combination of rain, isolated heavy thunderstorms, and near gale to gale southwesterly winds. These winds are expected to reach a force of 7 to 8 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts up to force 9. The weather conditions are anticipated to primarily impact coastal and windward mountainous areas.
The rainfall rate is predicted to locally exceed 35 mm per hour, posing potential challenges in the affected regions. The warning is set to be in effect from 1900 hours on Sunday until 0800 hours on Monday local time.
