Health Minister Michael Damianos Attends Strategic Discussions at European Health Summit.

Brussels: Health Minister Michael Damianos is in Brussels since Monday, for the European Health Summit. In a press release from the Ministry of Health, it is noted that on Monday evening the Minister participated in a working dinner organised by Poland, with the participation of the Danish Minister of Health, Sophie Løhde, and the Polish Minister of Health, Izabela Leszczyna. During the dinner, the priorities that Poland, Denmark and Cyprus will set in the context of the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union were discussed at length in order to ensure continuity and consistency of the work produced.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the discussion focused on finding synergies to enhance the impact of the proposed policies, as well as on working together to ensure the implementation of the proposals, given that the completion of many initiatives often exceeds the six months of each Member State’s Presidency. Damianos had a constructive dialogue with his counterparts, which resulted in a mutu
ally beneficial understanding, which is expected to highlight the work of the upcoming Cyprus Presidency on health issues, the press release said.

On Tuesday, Damianos is participating in the European Health Summit and is expected to address key issues of concern to the Council of Health Ministers, while presenting an innovative initiative by Cyprus on the joint procurement of medicines.
