Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices Increases by 2.1% in March

Nicosia: The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) experienced a 2.1% increase from March 2024 to March 2025, and saw a 0.5% rise between February 2025 and March 2025.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Statistical Service’s data revealed that the Recreation and Culture category had the highest year-over-year increase at 7.2%, followed by Restaurants and Hotels at 6.1%. Conversely, Clothing and Footwear experienced the largest decline, decreasing by 7.7%.

In terms of economic categories, Services showed the most significant annual increase at 4.6%, while Non-Energy Industrial Goods saw a decline of 2.8% compared to March 2024.

Month-over-month comparisons from February to March 2025 highlighted increases in Clothing and Footwear at 3.2%, and Restaurants and Hotels at 2.7%. The Services category recorded the largest increase among economic categories, rising by 1.3%.

For the period from January to March 2025, when compared to the same period in the previous year, Recreation and Culture led with a 7.3% increase, followed by Restaurants and Hotels at 5.2%. Clothing and Footwear, however, experienced the most significant decrease at 5.1%.
