Nicosia: Bookings over the weekend were "quite encouraging" and for the next long weekend of Green Monday they seem to be equally good, the Director of the Cyprus Hotel Association (PASYXE), Christos Angelides, told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) on Monday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, when asked about the hotel industry's performance over the past two days and expectations for the three-day Green Monday period, Angelides indicated that the bookings were encouraging. "Based on our information, the bookings we had were quite encouraging for the past three days," he stated.
Angelides further noted that bookings for the upcoming three-day period also appear promising. "Judging from the information we have, starting from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, several hotels will also provide organised menus for Green Monday, which serves as an enticement for customers to remain within the premises or gardens of the hotels," he explained.
In response to whether Cypriot hoteliers are generally satisfied with hotel bookings so far in 2026, Angelides remarked that satisfaction is not possible with reservation rates of 25% and 30%. "But this is what we mean when we say that we have to build," he added.
He expressed optimism about the future, noting, "I think we are on the right track." He highlighted the increase in flights to Cyprus from smaller countries like Armenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Poland, in addition to a steady flow of visitors from the United Kingdom and Israel. There is also a slight growth in visitors from Germany, which he finds encouraging.
