Gender Equality Commissioner Attends International Conference in Belgrade

Belgrade:Commissioner for Gender Equality, Josie Christodoulou, traveled to Belgrade on Tuesday to participate in the Belgrade Women's Conference - RISE 2026. This event, the 2nd International Ministerial Conference on the Political and Economic Empowerment of Women, will take place on Wednesday in the Serbian capital. Christodoulou is attending at the invitation of Tatjana Macura, Serbia's Minister without Portfolio responsible for gender equality and related initiatives.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the conference entitled "Building Alliances for Rising Generations" serves as a high-level international forum. It aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices, showcase effective public policies, and strengthen international cooperation for promoting gender equality and women's participation in political and economic spheres.

The event will gather ministers, senior government officials, and representatives from international organizations, the business community, and civil society. Christodoulou will join a round-table discussion where delegates will share their countries' strategies and achievements related to the political and economic empowerment of women. This session offers Cyprus a platform to share its experiences and engage with global representatives.

Additionally, the Commissioner will speak on the 'Her Voice' panel, which underscores the significance of women's presence in public life and decision-making. The focus will be on formulating policies that provide equal opportunities and empower women across all levels.
