Acheritou:At the 4th Pan-Cyprian Harvest Cultural Festival in Acheritou village, Famagusta district, Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis emphasized the government's commitment to supporting communities near the buffer zone.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Koumis announced that 83 projects worth £3.2 million were implemented under the first call of the Rural Area Revitalisation Scheme. An additional 152 projects valued at £7 million were carried out under the second call.

Koumis highlighted various initiatives, including housing incentives, the use of state-owned land, and the allocation of plots to families, aimed at revitalizing these areas. In the government-controlled Famagusta district alone, seven projects worth over £476,000 have been completed, benefiting areas such as Deryneia, Frenaros, Achna, Avgorou, and Liopetri. Additionally, £124,000 was allocated for the Thematic Water Park and the renovated children's park in the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia.

The Acheritou Harvest Festival is part of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism's 'Heartland of Legends' thematic route, promoting the Cypriot countryside to both local and foreign visitors. Koumis noted the ministry's efforts to attract visitors from Protaras and Ayia Napa to inland regions through thematic routes that emphasize local traditions and agricultural practices.

Koumis also underscored the festival's role in preserving Acheritou's historical memory and agricultural heritage through activities such as the reenactment of harvesting, threshing, and winnowing.
