Nicosia: The annual increase in the prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport in Cyprus stood at 18.6% in June 2026, according to data published on Wednesday by Eurostat. Cyprus is among the countries with the highest increases in the EU, as annual increases across the Member States ranged from 2.3% in Hungary to 26.0% in Bulgaria.
According to Cyprus News Agency, regarding petrol prices on a monthly basis, Cyprus was one of the two EU countries where an increase was recorded between May and June 2026. Specifically, in Cyprus, the price of petrol rose by 0.7%, while in Italy it increased by 0.5%. The remaining EU countries recorded monthly decreases in petrol prices, with the largest in Sweden at 7.8%, Belgium at 7.0%, and Poland at 6.6%.
In the EU, the price of fuels and lubricants for personal transport increased in June 2026 by 13.7% compared with June 2025, according to Eurostat. This followed higher annual increases of 20.8% in April 2026 and 20.7% in May 2026, compared with the corresponding months of 2025.
