First Projects Under Pact for the Mediterranean to Be Presented at Informal EU Council

Nicosia: The first concrete cooperation projects under the framework of the Pact for the Mediterranean will be unveiled at the Informal European Council meeting scheduled for April 23 and 24 in Cyprus, as announced by President Nikos Christodoulides through a post on X.

According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides emphasized that during Cyprus' Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Republic of Cyprus aims to significantly bolster its efforts to enhance relations between the EU and countries in the wider Middle East region. He highlighted Cyprus' strategic geographical position, political credibility, and deep understanding of regional dynamics as key elements that provide added value to both Europe and the region.

In his communication, President Christodoulides reiterated that the first cooperation projects under the Pact for the Mediterranean will be showcased at the upcoming Informal European Council in Cyprus. This initiative underscores Cyprus' active and responsible role in promoting regional stability, security, and collaboration, especially during its EU Council Presidency.

President Christodoulides also stated that Cyprus is committed to fostering a meaningful dialogue and cooperation framework, benefiting both Europe and the Middle East. He concluded by affirming Cyprus' dedication to these efforts, leveraging its institutional and political strengths.
