Nicosia: For the 25th consecutive year, ERB Asfalistiki, a part of Eurobank, and the Cyprus Fire Service are collaborating to implement initiatives aimed at informing and raising public awareness about fire dangers and protective measures. Fire Safety Week 2026, themed "Let's not leave our dreams turn into ashes!" will be held from April 20 to April 26, 2026, under the auspices of the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Mr. Costas Fytiris.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the week's activities were launched with a press conference on April 20 at ERB Cyprus Insurance Holdings' headquarters. Remarks were made by Mr. Costas Fytiris, the Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Nicos Logginos, the CEO of ERB Insurance Holdings Group, Mr. Takis Phidia, and the General Manager of ERB Asfalistiki, Mr. Andreas C. Stylianou.
During the press conference, ERB Asfalistiki presented the Cyprus Fire Service with its second fire safety training simulator, the Attack Digital Fire Training Panel. The first simulator, the Intelligent System Training (I.T.S), was delivered at a previous press event on March 23, 2026. Together, these systems, worth over £40,000, offer safe and realistic training for new Fire Service recruits and the public, minimizing environmental impact.
The highlight of the week will be the Open Day event on April 25, 2026, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Medieval Castle of Paphos. The public can view fire service vehicles and equipment and receive fire safety information. Children will enjoy activities, including entertainment such as a stilt walker. The event will be broadcast live on the radio, with representatives from ERB Asfalistiki and the Cyprus Fire Service available to provide fire safety information and distribute symbolic gifts.
