Finance Minister Engages in Talks with European Commissioner on Future EU Fiscal Framework

Nicosia: Finance Minister Makis Keravnos had a meeting on Thursday with European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans Costas Kadis. "During the meeting views were exchanged about matters to do mainly with the next EU multiannual fiscal framework 2028-2034, which is currently the subject of intensive consultations at European level, with the Republic of Cyprus which is presiding over the EU, playing an important role," a Finance Ministry press release said.

According to Cyprus News Agency, views were also exchanged to do with Kadis' portfolio, showcasing the significance of matters under his responsibility such as fisheries, aquaculture, and the protection of oceans. This meeting underscores the collaborative efforts between Cyprus and the European Union in shaping future economic and environmental strategies.

The discussions highlighted the importance of the Republic of Cyprus's role in the ongoing consultations for the fiscal framework, emphasizing its leadership as the presiding nation of the EU. The meeting also pointed out the crucial aspects of fisheries and ocean protection, areas that are integral to Commissioner Kadis' portfolio, ensuring these issues remain at the forefront of EU policy discussions.
