Finance Minister Engages in Talks on Multiannual Financial Framework with European Commission Official

Nicosia: The Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028-2034 was the primary agenda item during a discussion between Finance Minister Makis Keravnos and Stephanie Riso, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Budget, at the Ministry of Finance.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Riso is currently on a working visit to Cyprus in preparation for the nation’s upcoming Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2026. A press release from the Ministry highlighted the MFF as a major priority for the Republic of Cyprus. The Minister briefed the Director-General on the Presidency’s planning and intentions, emphasizing the necessity of close collaboration with the Council’s competent bodies to achieve meaningful progress.

Additionally, the Minister noted the importance of utilizing established coordination procedures to ensure a smooth and timely progression of relevant dossiers. The press release conveyed the Minister’s assurance to the Director-General that Cyprus will conduct its Presidency with responsibility, consistency, and efficiency, aiming for optimal outcomes and the advancement of the Union’s significant fiscal matters.
