Expected Duration of Working Life in Cyprus Reaches 39.5 Years, Reports Eurostat

Nicosia: The expected duration of working life in Cyprus for people aged 15 and over stood at 39.5 years in 2025, according to data published on Thursday by Eurostat.

According to Cyprus News Agency, in Cyprus, the expected duration of working life was 42.1 years for men and 36.7 years for women. At the EU level, people aged 15 and over are expected to work on average 37.5 years, compared with 37.2 years in 2024. Since 2016, the expected duration of working life in the EU has increased by 2.3 years, from 35.2 to 37.5 years.

Among the member states, the average expected duration of working life was 40 years or more in seven countries. The longest duration was recorded in the Netherlands, at 44.0 years, followed by Sweden with 43.4 years, Denmark with 42.6, Estonia with 41.5, Ireland with 40.7, Germany with 40.2, and Finland with 40.1.

By contrast, the shortest durations were recorded in Romania, with 32.7 years, Italy, with 33.0, and Bulgaria, with 34.6.
