Nicosia: European University Cyprus is set to organize a Literary Memorial in remembrance of Despina Sidiropoulou-Dimakakou, a professor in the Master's Degree Program 'Career Guidance and Counseling' at the university, who passed away on Saturday, 10 October 2025, after a prolonged illness.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the event is scheduled for Wednesday, 11 February 2026, at 5:30 p.m., at the Cisco Innovation Hub on the European University Cyprus Campus. Professor Sidiropoulou-Dimakakou was a prominent figure in Counseling and Career Guidance, significantly contributing to its establishment as an academic and professional discipline in Greece and Europe. She served as the Director of the postgraduate program 'Counseling and Career Guidance' at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens from 2005 to 2018 and had a longstanding academic collaboration with European University Cyprus, where she taught for numerous years.
Her efforts notably strengthened academic ties between Cyprus and Greece and facilitated the development of innovative counseling tools, academic research, and professional training in career guidance. During the memorial event, her final book, co-authored with Dr. Nikos Drosos, Associate Professor of Counseling and Career Guidance at European University Cyprus, will be officially presented. The book, "Quantitative and Qualitative Methods of Career Assessment" (Metaichmio Publications, 2024), will be highlighted.
The Literary Memorial is designed to honor her academic legacy and her enduring contributions to higher education, counseling science, and student development. The event is open to the public, will be conducted in Greek, and will conclude with a reception.
