European Commissioner’s Visit to Cyprus Focuses on Budget and Anti-Fraud Measures

Nicosia: Mr. Piotr Serafin, the European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud, and Public Administration, embarked on a significant visit to Cyprus, engaging in various high-profile meetings with key governmental and academic figures.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the visit commenced at the Presidential Palace, where Commissioner Serafin met with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. The two leaders discussed topics pertinent to Cyprus and the European Union, culminating in a public statement to the press. Following this, Commissioner Serafin proceeded to the Ministry of Finance to confer with Minister Makis Keravnos, where they addressed financial strategies and held a joint press briefing.

The itinerary further included a meeting with Annita Demetriou, President of the House of Parliament, as well as discussions with the Parliamentary Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs. These sessions focused on economic policies and budgetary oversight. Later in the day, Commissioner Serafin met with Marilena Raouna, Deputy Minister for European Affairs, at the Secretariat of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council 2025.

On the subsequent day, Commissioner Serafin visited the University of Cyprus, where he engaged with student representatives to discuss educational and administrative reforms, concluding his comprehensive visit to Cyprus.
