Eurobasket 2025: A Key Opportunity for Cyprus Tourism, Says Deputy Minister

Limassol: The organisation of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Group C in Cyprus constitutes a first-class opportunity to promote our country, both as a tourist destination and as a destination for organising sports events, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, said ahead of the Group C matches taking place between August 28 and September 4 at the “Spyros Kyprianou” Sports Centre in Limassol.

According to Cyprus News Agency, it is with great joy and satisfaction that Cyprus is hosting the FIBA Eurobasket 2025 in Limassol. This event is anticipated to draw the interest of millions of viewers, offering a vital opportunity to market Cyprus as an attractive location for tourists and a hub for sports events. Koumis expressed optimism about the impact of this event on the country’s visibility and reputation.

Cyprus is set to welcome a significant influx of foreign visitors, positively impacting tourism and local enterprises. The event is expected to reach over 300 million viewers worldwide through television broadcasts, in addition to coverage on social media platforms. The presence of five high-level national teams and more than 80 athletes underscores the event’s prestige and significance. Koumis highlighted the historic participation of the Cyprus National Team, marking a moment of pride for the nation.

Koumis emphasised the importance of sports tourism, stating that it remains a priority for the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. The ministry is committed to supporting FIBA Eurobasket 2025 and other sports events slated to occur in Cyprus in the coming months, underscoring their role in boosting the country’s tourism sector.
