Brussels: The European Commission has unveiled a comprehensive study titled “The Situation of Young People in Europe,” which serves as a supplement to the EU Youth Report 2024. This newly released study provides insights into the critical trends, challenges, and opportunities influencing the lives of young people across the European Union.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the study explores various aspects affecting youth, including education, employment, social inclusion, mobility, digitalization, political engagement, and the green transition. Among the key findings, it is noted that more than 70% of young Europeans participate in elections, with a significant number actively engaging in volunteering and civic initiatives.
Despite the encouraging statistic that 40% of young individuals have attained tertiary education, youth unemployment remains a concern, with 10% still without work. The report also highlights that nearly half of the young population has experienced emotional or psychosocial issues over the past year, underscoring the urgent need for targeted mental health support.
In terms of digital and green transitions, young people have identified climate change as a major global concern and are increasingly participating in actions to combat it. The report aims to provide journalists with empirical, fact-based insights into these pressing issues.
