Brussels:EU Agriculture Ministers are set to deliberate on measures to combat animal diseases at the upcoming Council of Ministers for Agriculture and Fisheries. The meeting, occurring under the Irish Presidency on September 29 and 30, will include participation from Cyprus' Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Christos Senekis.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Cyprus, in partnership with other EU member states, has called for immediate action from the European Commission to tackle animal diseases. Minister Senekis is scheduled to engage in a bilateral discussion with European Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare Oliv©r V¡rhelyi to focus on the development of foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus.

The Council will also address pivotal topics such as the future of the Common Agricultural and Common Fisheries Policies and the current state of agricultural markets. Minister Senekis is expected to return to Cyprus on Wednesday, September 30.
