Brussels: Today, in Australia, EU Trade Commissioner Maro efcovic launched, together with his twelve counterparts, the first EU-CPTPP Trade and Investment Dialogue, reaffirming their joint commitment to open, rules-based trade, while delivering tangible results. This is an important milestone, as the EU and the members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) represent 32% of global GDP and 37% of global trade. The EU-CPTPP Trade and Investment Dialogue will cover result-oriented cooperation between the two blocs in five key areas: trade diversification, digital trade, trade and investment facilitation, supply chain resilience, and the global trade environment, including World Trade Organisation reform.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Maro efcovic, Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, emphasized the EU’s commitment to maintaining an open and stable trade environment, highlighting the significance of cooperation with CPTPP partners. The dialogue aims to yield mutually beneficial results across the five priority areas. On the sidelines, Commissioner efcovic met with Australian Minister Don Farrell to discuss strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations and exchanged views with Minister Madeleine King on enhancing EU-Australia cooperation on critical minerals.
