EU Budget Commissioner Piotr Serafin to Visit Cyprus for Key Discussions

Nicosia: European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud, and Public Administration, Piotr Serafin, will pay an official visit to Cyprus from 3 to 5 September.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the visit is part of a series of visits to EU member states under the Commissioner’s Tour d’Europe. The aim of these visits is to highlight the added value of the EU budget for member states and the impact of EU-funded projects both locally and across Europe.

The Ministry of Finance notes that the visit comes at a critical time as it marks the beginning of negotiations for the next Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028-2034. This follows the European Commission’s proposal presented last July. The negotiations for the MFF is a top priority for Cyprus, especially with its upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026.

During his visit, Commissioner Serafin will meet with the President of the Republic, the Minister of Finance, the Deputy Minister for European Affairs, and other officials. He will also visit projects that are co-funded by the European Union.
