EMSC Reports 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Off Cyprus Coast

Larnaca: A 4.8 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was recorded off the coast of Cyprus at around 3:30 p.m. local time on Monday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

According to Cyprus News Agency, the epicenter of the earthquake was offshore of Larnaca (southeast), at a focal depth of 7.6 km. The tremor was felt in various areas across Cyprus, prompting concerns among residents and local authorities.

While there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries, the earthquake’s occurrence has led to a review of emergency protocols in the affected regions. Local authorities are advising residents to remain vigilant and report any structural damages to the relevant authorities.
