Nicosia: Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna met with European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas on Sunday to discuss key issues Cyprus will face during its upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU, set to begin in January.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Raouna briefed Tzitzikostas on Cyprus’s preparations for the EU Presidency and the significance the country places on Connectivity and Tourism. The European Commissioner highlighted that during Cyprus’s Presidency, the Commission will advance three major strategies focusing on ports, the maritime industry, and tourism.
The press release also noted that Raouna and Tzitzikostas exchanged views on achieving an agreement with the European Parliament concerning passenger rights in air transport. They also discussed the utilization of the Connecting Europe Facility and the Multiannual Financial Framework to enhance infrastructure and military mobility in regional EU Member States.
Lastly, concerning tourism, Raouna expressed Cyprus’s commitment to actively supporting the EU tourism agenda during its Presidency.
